Caring for the elderly in an assisted living facility was supposed to be an interim job. In the days since that humble beginning I have studied and worked my way through the corporate ladders until I was certified by the State of Florida with the documents necessary to be an Administrator. Along the way in addition to a salary I was blessed with love, many life lessons, and stories from our elders. I don’t work at any one facility anymore, leaving the day-to-day operations to others. Now I travel from facility to facility with Activity Programs for the residents. By helping the facilities create and execute State mandated active hours for their residents I have found the best job ever imagined. I spend the day playing and entertaining and learning. Best of all…I spend my days sharing love.
With this blog I intend to share the tears and smiles I have experienced over the years. Interspersed with those stories will be crafts and activity ideas for elders, plus the occasional serious article of elder concerns and rants about elder care.
